Bad cop, worse cop

Everyone knows the good cop, bad cop routine. Its been in films and television programmes for years and in my first radio/TV production lecture i was fortunate enough to get a first hand experience in this well known cliche. That is what i thought however. After Andy Fords speech about how the media industry is one of the toughest business around and that we would have to put as much effort into our work as Albert Einstein did to theorize the theory of relativity, Will Cope stepped up to the plate and i expected the good cop to arrive. However, Will proceeded to state that even if we put maximum effort in, we still probably wouldn't get in to the media industry. Bad cop to worse cop.

This daunting information would have scared many students and maybe disheartened them and smashed their sport journalist dreams. For me however, i could not have needed more of a push. Last year i put a lot of effort into my productions and still did not receive the marks i wanted, so after hearing the bad cop, worse cop routine, i did not give up hope of pursuing my career as a sports journalist, nor did i assume that last years disappointments would continue to this year. I realised that although i put effort in to my last years productions, this year i don't need to put effort in, i need to put all the effort that i can muster in, and even though this might not get me a job in the media industry, it will put me ahead of a lot of other candidates.
